Any oil listed in Tiers 1 - 4 on the list linked to in post #3 should see this engine to a long service life.

1.4T calls for 4.25 quarts of oil. 1.8 calls for 4.75 quarts of oil. That will bring you to the middle of the hash mark on the dipstick at level ground, engine cold.
