I've been using your dps meter this week, experimenting with WP and WT. I've found that when it comes to human thralls, in my case at least, the damage 2 thralls do is good enough. WT though, is better with pets and and I just last night finished a zombie run using WT, which performed better for me than WP did.Wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't working as intended. To this day, I have not seen a single proof that thrall-zombies decay at all.
