There is a service billeting for your generation Malibu for a knock/clunk at rear suspension. Involves replacing rear knuckles but that would be at your expense, unless your under bumper to bumper which I doubt. I have the same vehicle it is the rear knuckles.. I replaced mine from rock auto $160 bucks.
