If anything is loose (worn out) it will create a knocking noise over bumps and such. Check swaybar links, mount bushings, ball joints and control arm bushings. Jack the front end up and stick a pry bar in between the lower control arm and the bottom of the knuckle where the joint is and try to pry them apart.
