I have had a break after some weeks into WQ from running Wellspring, then i casually helped out my team running it,- and both patterns dropped in the 2 runs one after the other, i think it is just RNG with a low chance, but it might have some other quota mechanism too, so maybe good chance for 2-3 runs a week, then back to very low.. I think the exotic glaive will be given with the exotic quest on Mars board, not by dropping it. You get the other 2 from wellspring drops doe. You have to craft the exotic glaives.

The ones required for that quest need to be completed twice. World drops require 5 resonance completions. Look at your Triumphs under Patterns and Catalysts. Please Buff Wellspring Drop Rates. ran 30 wellsprings tonight and didn't even get one come to pass with resonance on it, keep in mind you need two for the quest to unlock the exotic glaives. the fact that I wasted 4 hours tonight just for nothing is not a good feeling. I do like some of bungie’s decisions on most aspects of Destiny playability but this constant grinding the wellspring for glaive patterns at very low drop rates are not one of them.
