Feb 24, 2024 · mw3 file verification issues. Hi. I was playing mw3 when the game crashed. In the crash notes it said to validate the game files in steam so that's what I did. After doing this it said: '72 files failed to validate and will be reacquired. After this I validated the files again to check that it had worked, yet it said the same thing. Never validate unless the game literally wont run at all. Crashes happen, but validating takes time and can corrupt the files. I have crashed a few times but never validate them, I just reload and it seems to work for awhile. I was wondering if validating after installing is what was screwing the pooch. But the way I fixed them was setting the file properties of steam.exe to run as administrator, and make a new desktop shortcut based on the steam.exe file from the new spot.
