Pinecrest Lake is great to visit year round - there is always something to do or see. This summer is the busiest season because of all the campers and day trippers but there is swimming, hiking, fishing, boating, beaches all available. There is a 3 mile trail around the lake that can hiked most seasons unless there is a lot of snow.
